How hard is it to set up Modaal?
Setup is straightforward. You'll need to:
- Install Xcode (required for iOS builds) — usually ~20 minutes
- Install a supported CLI coding agent — typically ~10–30 minutes
If this is difficult for you — set up a 15-min onboarding call and we'll set it all up together.
Modaal checks your setup automatically. If something is missing, we'll show you exactly what to install and link you to the right guide. Once it's done, you're ready to build.
Do I need a Mac to build an iOS app?
Yes. Building and running native iOS apps requires macOS + Xcode. For now, we support Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or newer) because they deliver faster builds, better performance, and a more reliable developer environment.
Do I need a general-purpose coding agent to use Modaal?
Yes — Modaal requires a connected coding agent to generate and edit the native codebase. You can use any of the 13 popular agents available today.
How much does it cost to build an app with Modaal?
Modaal is a fixed subscription — no credits. You'll also pay separately for the tools you plug in (your coding agent).
In practice, many builders spend roughly €40–€80/month total for light-to-medium prototyping (depending on how much you generate and rebuild). You can build as many projects as your plan allows within that month.
How is Modaal different from Claude Code or other AI coding tools?
It is not an alternative to them — it runs on them. Modaal orchestrates the coding agent you already pay for; Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and ten others are supported, and you authenticate with your existing subscription.
What Modaal adds is everything between a terminal agent and a shipping native app. A coding agent on its own writes good Swift but cannot register a new file in an Xcode target, read a build error in a structured way, drive the simulator, or hold an architecture in mind across a context reset. Modaal scaffolds the project, runs a build-and-fix loop through Xcode after each step, and keeps the module structure on disk so it survives a context clear or an agent switch.
