MeatVault
Get on App StoreTrack your frozen meat — and stop wasting the good cuts.
About this app
You buy quality beef, pork and specialty cuts — and then they disappear into the freezer, forgotten until they're past their prime. MeatVault is a fast, clean inventory for your frozen meat: what you have, when it expires, and a nudge before it's too late. Niche on purpose — and much nicer than another spreadsheet or Notion database.
Jim built MeatVault with Modaal's bring-your-own-agent setup: hook up Claude Code, install Xcode, and you're all set. Free on the App Store (iPhone only).
The story behind it
I jumped on the vibe-coding train to see how far I could get. I used Modaal, and with the bring-your-own-agent approach it was simple: hook up Claude Code, install Xcode, and you're all set.
MeatVault is a tool I wanted myself, but it wasn't available yet — an app to keep track of the BBQ meat in my freezer, so the expensive meat doesn't go to waste. It's niche, and I think that's perfect.
My key learnings: don't be afraid of the technical stuff — any AI chat can get you very far, just paste in the error message. Spec-driven development speeds up what we do as human teams — but it's fueled with tokens. Getting lazy is the biggest risk when building with AI. And setting up an Apple Developer account is a pain — but anybody can do it.
